Looking for some local craft beer for the holiday? We have a very limited selection of Tree Tugger Barleywine left in growlers, as well as the regular favorite Voodoo Porter. Both are great for the coming cold weather, and pair well with holiday foods. Cheers!

Liquid Sunshine Release Event
July 1, 2011, from 4-7pm 19 Mill St #4 , Orono
Black Bear Brewery would like to invite you to the brewery for a tasting of a new beer we made called Liquid Sunshine. Liquid Sunshine is a Bavarian style Hefewiezen. We made every effort to create a genuine example of this style with this recipe.
This beer has the traditional clove aroma with a touch of lemon peel, but there are no spices added. The unique flavor comes from a traditional yeast selection which has been used in Germany for centuries. Hefewiezens are traditionally left unfiltered and as a result, ours has a nice light straw color, almost white. The finish is quite dry, making this beer extremely refreshing and drinkable. For the hot summer days try cooling down with “Liquid Sunshine”!

Cheers!
Harvest IPA is here again
It’s that time of year again, the time when hops are ready to harvest, and brewers get to make beer with fresh hops instead of dried hops. This year’s Harvest IPA is smooth and malty, with a fresh hop finish from twenty-five pounds of locally grown organic cascade hops added. This massive dose of finishing hops allows all of the flavor and aroma of the hops to infuse in the beer, while keeping the bitterness in check.
Tim used these hops in a fashion called a hop-back, which allows the finished beer to flow over the hops, soaking them with beer, and steeping the hops in freshly brewed beer. This keeps the bitterness of the hops from entering the beer, and only the delicate flavor and aroma is infused.

Black Bear Microbrew Video
Chris Bagley, a student at the University of Maine’s New Media program, recently finished a video he made about Black Bear Microbrew. We are privileged to share this video with you. Please enjoy it, and let us know what you think!

Fresh Hop Ale
Just brewed a fresh hop ale with organic, locally grown Cascade hops. 15 pounds of hops were picked and delivered on brew day and then went straight into the beer. This beer can only be brewed once a year during harvest and will always be unique. It is best when fresh. Harvest Ale will be available locally on draft and in Growlers and 22 oz bottles FRESH FROM THE BREWERY. Growlers available at Burby and Bates.
Harvest IPA will be available soon so don’t miss it!
